Lord Strathclyde

Independent Non-Executive Chairman

Lord Strathclyde became Chairman of B&C in June 2016. He has a long and distinguished career in public service, latterly being Leader of the House of Lords and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. He has served on the boards of several financial services companies including Scottish businesses and Mortgage Investment Trust Plc, Marketform Plc, Hampden Agencies Ltd and Trafigura BV. Currently Lord Strathclyde is a senior adviser to a number of international businesses and is Chairman of the Battersea Power Station Advisory Board.

Senior Independent Non-Executive Director

Roger has more than 40 years’ business and corporate experience and is a Chartered Accountant having been an Audit Partner at KPMG until 2000. Subsequently he was CFO for an AIM listed corporate finance company and is currently Non-Executive Chairman of Marsden Building Society and the independent member of the Audit Committee at the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Anthony Ward

Independent Non-Executive Director

Anthony is an acknowledged expert in mortgages, risk management and funding solutions. During his career, which spans more than 40 years, he developed Kleinwort Benson’s innovative mortgage originating and securitisation business, Mortgage Funding Corporation PLC and was CFO then CEO of mortgage lender Britannic Money (now Mortgage Trust). He is a Fellow of both the Association of Corporate Treasurers and the Royal Society of Arts and a Member of the Institute of Credit Management. He is also a past Deputy Chairman of the Council of Mortgage Lenders and Chairman of Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association.

Additionally, Anthony is a Non-Executive Chairman of Landbay Partners Limited, a Chairman of Link Mortgage Services (a division of Link Group) and has led Home Funding since 2006.

Independent Non-Executive Director

Karen has held a broad industry career which began in accountancy and progressed into business leadership with a particular interest in business performance improvement with a focus on people. Karen has worked across a diverse range of sectors and held senior leadership roles including; Chief Executive Officer at Cheshire Building Society, Group HR Director at private equity backed Care UK, Vice President HR at Kellogg’s Europe, People Performance Director at Sainsbury’s and HR Director at GUS Home Shopping / Reality. Her early career was spent in financial services. All of these roles have been transformational in nature as each business was facing a significant challenge in their market. Karen is now a Non-Executive Director with extensive exposure working with senior executives and Boards to improve business performance from the formation of vision and strategy to delivery at the front line. She is also an effective coach with the ability to identify potential and develop talent.

William Charnley

Independent Non-Executive Director

William is a London based Partner and the Head of the Corporate Practice at King & Spalding International LLP, a large global law firm. He has broad corporate experience advising on IPOs and securities offerings, takeovers, private equity transactions, mergers & acquisitions and joint ventures. William has also advised bank boards on regulatory and policy changes, corporate governance and risk issues.

Claire has more than 20 years’ experience in finance. Claire began her career at Coopers & Lybrand and has held a number of senior roles including EMEA Chief Operating Officer of Natixis CIB and Chief Operating Officer Europe and Middle East for FIMAT and Newedge. Claire also holds a Certificate in Quantitative Finance. Between 2011 and 2016 she worked as a consultant to support operational improvement programmes by advising COOs and CEOs of rapidly growing companies.

Nicole Coll

Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director

Nicole joined B&C from the Bank of England where she held the position of Chief Financial Accountant. Nicole also served as the Head of Financial Control and CFO at Societe Generale Newedge in London for seven years and previously held senior finance positions at broker-dealers in New York and London. Nicole is a qualified chartered accountant having worked at Deloitte in South Africa and in the USA.

Edouard has been based in London for 25 years where he developed his expertise in the banking industry. After a career in large investment banks and mergers and acquisitions, Edouard co-founded Ocean Capital Associates in 2002 to focus on lending money to medium to large companies in Europe and North America.

Georgina qualified and worked as a real estate lawyer at Linklaters before numerous legal and compliance roles within Citi, including corporate finance and financial crime. She has previously held the role of GC and Compliance Head and a director and company secretary of a challenger bank, similarly to B&C, post change in control.

Maria joined B&C in May 2016 and is responsible for the business development and broker relations for the mortgage business. With over 30 years' experience in the banking industry, she previously worked at Butterfield Private Bank and BNP Paribas Fortis within high net worth mortgage lending and prior to this in various treasury roles at BBVA, Banco Inverlat and Bancomer.

Nigel Das has worked in structured finance and commercial lending for over 20 years, specialising in securitisation and real estate loans. Starting his career as a structured finance lawyer, Nigel then joined Goldman Sachs before serving as a director at Rothschild and at Eurohypo (formerly part of Deutsche Bank)  where he continued to specialize in real estate lending and restructuring.

Maria has a 19 year track record in leveraged finance. As a Partner at Indigo Capital LLP, a European private debt fund, she provided unitranche and subordinated debt to UK and German mid-market sponsors and SMEs. Maria started her career in 1999 at PwC’s Valuations and Strategy team, subsequently joining the European private equity teams of Henderson and Hermes.

Philippe joined the team in August 2013 to lead business development in Canada. Philippe has more than 25 years of professional experience and spent the first 17 years of his career focusing on the telecom industry and, most notably, developing ventures in Canada as well as the rest of the world. Philippe was key to acquiring, establishing and developing the mobile telephone business Telesystem International Wireless in Europe. In 2006, Philippe co-created Echo Capital a firm specialising in providing financings (debt or equity) to Quebec industrial companies. Philippe graduated as an industrial engineer from the University of Montreal in 1987.
